Sergio Peres Ramos da Silva, Ph.D.

Currently Deputy Coordinator and Permanent Professor of the Professional Master's Program in Energy Technology (MPTE); Coordinator of the Fuel and Energy Laboratory; Adjunct Professor (3E) of the Polytechnic School of the University of Pernambuco. Visiting Professor at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) in Worcester-Massachussetts, USA, from January to February 2016, where he taught the course Biomass and Biofuels.

Gabriel Filippelli, Ph.D.

Dr. Gabriel Filippelli is a Professor of Earth Sciences and Director of the Center for Urban Health at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Ph.D. Earth Sciences, University of California, Santa Cruz (1994); B.S. Geology, University of California, Davis (1986).

 

Research focused on biogeochemical cycling in the environment and the connections between geochemistry and the geologic record of climate change. Student projects involve field study, followed by detailed geochemical analyses in the biogeochemistry laboratory.

Joe Colistra, MArch.

​

Joe Colistra is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Kansas. A licensed architect, he has been in practice for 20 years. He founded his own firm, in situ DESIGN in 2002. He has extensive experience in all types of housing, mixed-use, institutional, and community-based projects.

 

He has also completed several major urban redevelopment master plans. Both his work and writings have been published extensively and he has been invited to exhibit and lecture around the world.

His design work and service to communities have received great recognition.

Martha Rabbani, Ph.D.

​

Martha Jalali Rabbani is a Lecturer in Peace and Conflict Studies for the Humanities & Western Civilization Program (KU) since 2004.  She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees, an advanced diploma in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution from the European Peace University in Schlainnin, Austria, and a doctorate in Humanities from Jaume I University in Spain. 

 

Dr. Rabbani's teaching and research are in peace education, global democracy and world citizenship.  She has authored several articles on peace education and a book on Education for World Citizenship.
